The heart of the new Brisbane Independent School is a large open forecourt with ‘mini cubic city’ that serves as an assembly area, an exterior meeting point, and a visual connection between the school’s various departments and functions. Through this central hub, students can easily and intuitively find their way from the classrooms and library on the upper levels down to creative playground, multi-purpose hall, and the co-op farm that sit on the ground level.
“The BISness of Learning is about creating the cognitive, physical and psychological grounding to make the adults who will enact the change they identify needs to happen” – Brisbane Independent School
“The new school is not only a shelter for education, itself is an interactive learning tool – the bigger toy for all students.” – Thomas Tsui (Architect)
